The stars aligned at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night, where David Tennant hosted a spectacular celebration of cinema at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards. In a ceremony marked by emotional first-time wins and musical performances, British film “Conclave” emerged as the night’s big winner alongside the visually striking “The Brutalist.”

‘Conclave’ Leads the Pack

“Conclave” dominated the evening with four wins, including the coveted Best Film and Outstanding British Film awards, proving once again that British cinema continues to captivate audiences and critics alike. The film’s additional victories in Adapted Screenplay and Editing categories cement its place as a technical and narrative masterpiece.

Brady Corbet’s ‘The Brutalist’ Makes History

Matching “Conclave’s” four-award triumph, “The Brutalist” brought first-time BAFTA glory to both its director Brady Corbet and leading man Adrien Brody. The film’s breathtaking cinematography and original score wins suggest an audacious artistic vision that pushed creative boundaries.

Breakthrough Performances Steal the Show

In one of the night’s most exciting developments, Mikey Madison clinched the Leading Actress award for “Anora,” while “Succession” star Kieran Culkin continued his awards season momentum with a Supporting Actor win for “A Real Pain.” The latter film also earned Jesse Eisenberg his first BAFTA for Original Screenplay.

Zoe Saldaña’s transition from sci-fi queen to BAFTA winner proved successful with her Supporting Actress victory for the Spanish-language film “Emilia Pérez,” which also won Film Not in the English Language.

Musical Moments and Emotional Tributes

The ceremony wasn’t just about the awards. Take That brought the house down with their performance of “Greatest Day” from “Anora,” while Jeff Goldblum provided one of the evening’s most poignant moments, performing “As Time Goes By” during the In Memoriam segment.

Animation and Technical Excellence

Beloved British institution Wallace & Gromit returned triumphantly with “Vengeance Most Fowl,” winning both Animated Film and the inaugural Children’s & Family Film award. Meanwhile, “Dune: Part Two” maintained the franchise’s technical prowess with wins in Visual Effects and Sound.

A Fellowship for a Champion

In what was perhaps the night’s most touching moment, Warwick Davis received the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship. The honor recognized not only his remarkable acting career but also his tireless advocacy for people with dwarfism, making him a true pioneer both on and off screen.

Rising Stars and Fresh Faces

David Jonsson took home the EE Rising Star Award, voted for by the public, marking him as British cinema’s next big thing. The industry also recognized new talent behind the camera, with “Kneecap” winning Outstanding Debut.

A Night to Remember

The 2025 BAFTAs will be remembered as a celebration of both established talent and exciting newcomers. From Adrien Brody’s first BAFTA win to the recognition of groundbreaking international cinema, the ceremony showcased the incredible diversity and creativity driving modern filmmaking.

The recognition of MediCinema with the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award rounded out a night that celebrated not just artistic achievement, but cinema’s power to change lives. As the curtain falls on another spectacular BAFTA ceremony, it’s clear that British cinema continues to thrive, pushing boundaries and setting new standards for excellence in filmmaking.

The upcoming film “September 5” promises to explore one of the most pivotal moments in media history through a unique lens: the American broadcasting team that found themselves at the intersection of sports coverage and breaking news during the tragic events of the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Rising star John Magaro (“Past Lives”) leads the cast as Geoff, an ambitious young producer who must navigate the uncharted waters of live crisis coverage when the sporting event he’s covering becomes the center of a terrorist attack. Peter Sarsgaard (“Memory”) brings his considerable talent to the role of legendary TV executive Roone Arledge, while German sensation Leonie Benesch (“The Crown”) joins as Marianne, a German interpreter crucial to the unfolding coverage. Veteran actor Ben Chaplin (“The Father”) rounds out the main cast as Marvin Bader, the experienced mentor guiding Geoff through the crisis.

While the Munich Olympics hostage crisis has been depicted in various films before (most notably in Steven Spielberg’s “Munich”), “September 5” takes a fresh approach by focusing on the media perspective. The film examines how this event fundamentally transformed live news coverage, setting precedents that continue to influence modern broadcasting. With an estimated one billion viewers watching globally at the time, the pressure on these accidental chroniclers of history was unprecedented.

About Time (2013)

This gem from “Love Actually” director Richard Curtis is so much more than a romantic comedy. Domhnall Gleeson stars as Tim, a young man who discovers he can time travel within his own life. While the romance with Rachel McAdams’s Mary is delightful, the film’s true heart lies in its exploration of family bonds, particularly the father-son relationship between Tim and his dad (Bill Nighy). It’s a beautiful meditation on making the most of everyday moments and appreciating the simple joys of life. The film’s wholesome approach to love and family makes it a standout in the genre.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)

This French period drama tells an intense story of forbidden love between an artist and her subject. Director Céline Sciamma crafts a visually stunning meditation on art, desire, and memory that lingers long after viewing.

(500) Days of Summer (2009)

The Big Sick (2017)

Based on Kumail Nanjiani’s real-life love story, this comedy tackles cultural differences and serious illness while maintaining its charm and humor. It proves that modern romance can be both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Once (2007)

This low-budget Irish musical about a street musician and a pianist captures the raw energy of falling in love through music. The natural performances and beautiful songs create an authentic portrait of artistic and romantic connection.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t break up with your past.

This Valentine’s Day, Oscar® winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Loki) rockets into his first major leading man role as an unlikely hero, a seemingly mild-mannered realtor with a dark secret that he is desperate to leave behind. Spoiler alert: He won’t.

From 87North—producers of the groundbreaking action films Nobody, Violent Night, Bullet Train, Atomic Blonde and The Fall Guy—comes a visceral, high-octane story of wrath and revenge.

Quan stars as Marvin Gable, a realtor working the Milwaukee suburbs, where ‘For Sale’ signs bloom. Gable receives a crimson envelope from Rose (Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose; West Side Story, Argylle), a former partner-in-crime that he had left for dead. She’s not happy.

Now, Marvin is thrust back into a world of ruthless hitmen, filled with double-crosses and open houses turned into deadly warzones. With his brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu; Tomb Raider, Warcraft), a volatile crime lord, hunting him, Marvin must confront the choices that haunt him and the history he never truly buried.

The film features a killer soundtrack and impressive and diverse cast that includes former NFL running back and Super Bowl champion Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch (Bottoms, 80 for Brady), Mustafa Shakir (Emancipation, Luke Cage), Lio Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love., Lucy), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level, Yes Man), André Eriksen (Violent Night, The Trip) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Perry Mason).

Produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, Love Hurts is written by Matthew Murray (Sheltered, CloudStreet: Soaring the American West) & Josh Stoddard (Warrior, Kaleidoscope) and Luke Passmore (Archenemy, Slaughterhouse Rulez). Guy Danella (Violent Night) is also producing. The executive producer is Ben Ormand.

Making his feature film directing debut on Love Hurts is acclaimed veteran stunt coordinator and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio, whose credits include some of the greatest action films of the past decade including Black Panther, The Avengers, the John Wick films, The Matrix Resurrections, Violent Night, The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2. Eusebio also served as the second-unit director on Deadpool 2, Violent Night and Birds of Prey.

Films on local release UK

NOSFERATU (1st Jan)

The film stars Bill Skarsgård as the titular character and Nicholas Hoult and Lily-Rose Depp as the married Hutter couple, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney in supporting roles with Willem Dafoe as Professor Von Franz – Vampire hunter.

Stellar cast and the ever watchable Skarsgard. MUST SEE

WE LIVE IN TIME ( 1st Jan)

A romantic comedy-drama film directed by John Crowley and written by Nick Payne. It follows the relationship of a couple (Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh) over the course of a decade. The film uses nonlinear narrative. Mixed reviews have slowed the films performance but it has great performances from Pugh and Garfield. The narrative jumps around a lot and can be a little annoying. The script needs more humour to really fit in the romantic comedy genre and it feels more like a drama with occassional humour.

However, there is still a lot going for it and is Recommended.

NICKEL BOYS (3rd Jan)

Directed by RaMell Ross, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joslyn Barnes, and stars Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson, alongside Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. The story follows two African-American boys, Elwood and Turner, who are sent to an abusive reform school in 1960s Florida. The film is inspired by the Dozier School for Boys, a now-closed Florida reform school notorious for its abusive treatment of students.

Shot in a first-person point-of-view, filming took place in Louisiana in late 2022. Hard hitting drama, very interesting based on a true story. Recommended.

A REAL PAIN (8th Jan)

A 2024 buddy comedy-drama film written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg.[7] An international co-production between Poland and the United States, it stars Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as two mismatched Jewish American cousins who travel to Poland in an attempt to honor their late grandmother. Emphasis on drama with some comedic moments. Excellent performances, especially from Culkin. Recommended.

MARIA (10th Jan)

A biographical psychological drama film directed by Pablo Larraín, written by Steven Knight, and is an international co-production between Italy, Germany, and the United States. The film stars Angelina Jolie as opera singer Maria Callas, and follows the seven days before her death in 1977 Paris as she reflects on her life and career. It also stars Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer, Stephen Ashfield, Valeria Golino, and Kodi Smit-McPhee in supporting roles. It is the third film in Larraín’s trilogy of important 20th-century women, following Jackie (2016) and Spencer (2021). A beautiful performance by Angelina Jolie and some sumptuous set pieces. As with his other biopics, it has a tragic feel throughout which may not allow it to reach its full highs.

STILL AT THE CINEMA

MUFASS: THE LION KING

Sometime after Simba becomes King of the Pride Lands,[b] he and Nala have a daughter named Kiara and are expecting another cub. They leave for an oasis where Nala can give birth, while Simba asks Timon and Pumbaa to watch over Kiara. Rafiki soon visits them and decides to share the story about her grandfather Mufasa and his treacherous younger brother Scar, with Timon and Pumbaa providing color commentary in between.

The dynamic between Mufassa and Scar is very interesting to see and the film has plenty of action.

The animals are realistic though the score doesnt have as many hits as the original Lion King.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3

Based on the video game series. The third in the Sonic film series, it was directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Idris Elba reprise their roles, with Keanu Reeves joining the cast. In the film, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles face Shadow the Hedgehog (Reeves), who allies with the mad scientists Ivo and Gerald Robotnik in pursuit of revenge against humanity. The best of the Sonic series with Carrey recapturing his magic of earlier times. Not to mention the beloved Keanu Reeves joining the cast.

Recommended.

BETTER MAN

Better Man is a 2024 biographical musical film co-written, produced and directed by Michael Gracey, about the life of British pop singer Robbie Williams. Williams is portrayed as an anthropomorphic chimpanzee with CGI, performed by Jonno Davies using motion capture, and voiced by both Williams and Davies. Steve Pemberton, Kate Mulvany, Alison Steadman, and Damon Herriman also star. Truly an original film. My 15 year old raved that it is the best film ever. See and then watch again. MUST SEE

Hugh grant in a dastardly role, appears in Heretic a mind bending horror. Grant gives a great performance and has a fine supporting cast. This truly has been year of the horror with so many good horror films on the scene. Lately, he has become notable for telling people how nasty he really is, though this seems like an extra promotion for the film. Having met him at the BAFTAS a few years back, he was nothing but charming and I can’t help but liking him in this, even though he plays diabolical very well.

Two young members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East) have answered a request for more information from a man named Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant). They first follow their dictum and refuse to enter Mr. Reed’s home until a woman is present, but he insists that his wife is in the other room baking a pie.

Juror Number 2 is also out with Nicholas Hoult. Hitting the cinemas without too much hype, it is directed by Clint Eastwood and tells the story of of a juror who realises that he may actually be responsible for the crime for which another is on trial. Unseen at time of print, I will update this as soon as I rush out and see it.

If you haven’t been to the cinema recently, you can probably still catch Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice – Smile2 and Venom, the last dance. Of these, Smile 2 is a good horror, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Venom, the last dance are both fun romps.

Don’t forget the must see, The Wild Robot – full of heart and entertaining for all ages.

Get ready to never look at a smile the same way again! The bone-chilling horror phenomenon “Smile” is back with a star-studded sequel that promises to crank up the terror to eleven. “Smile 2” is set to hit theaters on October 18, 2024, and we’ve got all the spine-tingling details that will have you grinning… or grimacing!

A New Face of Fear

“Smile 2” takes a fresh approach to the franchise, focusing on Skye Riley, a global pop sensation played by the talented Naomi Scott (“Aladdin”, “Power Rangers”). As Skye prepares for a world tour, she finds herself trapped in a nightmare that blurs the lines between reality and terror.

About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and pressures of fame, she must confront her dark past before her life spirals out of control.

Talk about stage fright! This premise brilliantly weaves the pressures of stardom with supernatural horror, promising a psychological thrill ride that will resonate with audiences on multiple levels.

Star-Studded Scares

The cast of “Smile 2” is packed with talent that’s sure to bring depth to this horrifying tale:

  • Naomi Scott leads the charge as Skye Riley, our tormented pop star.
  • Rosemarie DeWitt joins the fray, though her role remains shrouded in mystery.
  • Kyle Gallner reprises his role as Joel, the cursed police officer from the first film. How will his story intersect with Skye’s?
  • Lukas Gage plays Lewis, Skye’s friend who passes the Smile Entity to her. With friends like these, who needs enemies?
  • Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson round out the cast, each likely to bring their own flavor of fear to the screen.

And in a delightful twist, Drew Barrymore will appear as herself! Could we see the beloved actress falling victim to the Smile Entity’s curse?

Behind the Screams

Parker Finn returns to write and direct “Smile 2”, ensuring the sequel stays true to the terrifying vision that made the first film a runaway success. Finn has expressed excitement about exploring new aspects of the “Smile” universe, promising a fresh take that will keep audiences guessing.

Principal photography wrapped in March 2024, with filming taking place across various locations in New York, including Hudson Valley, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Wappingers Falls, Albany, and New York City. This diverse range of locations hints at a larger scale for the sequel, perhaps following Skye’s tour as it descends into madness.

A Smile That’s Contagious… in a Bad Way

For those who missed the first “Smile”, the franchise centers around a malevolent entity that possesses its victims, forcing them to smile grotesquely before meeting a gruesome end and passing the curse to a witness. The original film left many questions unanswered, and while Finn is keen to maintain some mystery, “Smile 2” promises to delve deeper into the entity’s backstory.

Remember when horror movies were all about masked killers and haunted houses? Well, hold onto your popcorn, because the world of scary movies has gotten a whole lot wilder – and we’re here for it!

What’s Hot in Horror?

Real-World Nightmares Forget Freddy Krueger; sometimes the scariest monsters are the ones we face every day. Movies like “The Invisible Man” turn real-life fears into nail-biting thrillers. It’s like our everyday anxieties cranked up to eleven – and somehow, it’s cathartic.

Movies That Make You Think Remember “Get Out”? It wasn’t just scary; it got us talking about racism in a whole new way. Now, more horror films are following suit, tackling everything from mental health to social media anxiety. It’s like holding up a creepy mirror to our world – and we can’t look away.

Blast from the Past Nostalgic for the 80s? You’re not alone. Shows like “Stranger Things” have us longing for synth music and BMX bikes – with a side of interdimensional monsters, of course. Movies like “It” are bringing back that retro horror vibe, and audiences are eating it up faster than Pennywise devours fear.

Family Frights Gone are the days when horror was all about teenagers making bad decisions. Now, it’s mom, dad, and the kids facing the terror together. Films like “A Quiet Place” have us wondering: how far would we go to protect our loved ones?

Top 5 Must-Watch Screamfests

Want to dip your toe into the new world of horror? Here are five films that’ll have you sleeping with the lights on:

“Train to Busan” (2016) – Zombies on a train? This Korean thriller is a non-stop adrenaline rush with a heart.

“Get Out” (2017) – A weekend with the in-laws goes horribly wrong in this smart, scary, and socially conscious thriller.

“A Quiet Place” (2018) – Shhh! Don’t make a sound, or the monsters will get you. Edge-of-your-seat tension from start to finish.

“Hereditary” (2018) – Family drama meets supernatural terror. Warning: This one’s not for the faint of heart!

“The Babadook” (2014) – Is it a monster, or is it grief? This Australian chiller will have you questioning everything.

Remember: In the world of horror movies, it’s okay to be scared – that’s half the fun!

Symbiote fans, brace yourselves! The final chapter in Eddie Brock and Venom’s wild ride is coming, and it’s titled “Venom: The Last Dance”. This thrilling conclusion promises to be a heart-pounding, action-packed farewell to one of Marvel’s most complex and beloved anti-heroes. Let’s dive into what we know about this upcoming spectacle and why it’s set to be the talk of the town!

In Venom: The Last Dance, Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

Venom: The Last Dance stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker.

The Story So Far: A Recap of Venom’s Big-Screen Adventures

Venom (2018): The Birth of an Anti-Hero

Remember when Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) first bonded with that gooey alien symbiote? It was a match made in… well, not heaven, but definitely somewhere interesting! This odd-couple pairing gave us laugh-out-loud moments (“So many snacks, so little time!”) and some serious butt-kicking action.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021): Double the Symbiotes, Double the Fun

The sequel upped the ante by introducing Carnage, Venom’s psychotic offspring. Woody Harrelson’s portrayal of Cletus Kasady/Carnage was delightfully unhinged, giving us a villain that was equal parts terrifying and entertaining.

From Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, comes an intense suspense thriller for our modern age, starring BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy (Split, Glass) in a riveting performance as the charismatic, alpha-male estate owner whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness.

Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire) and SAG award-winner Scoot McNairy (Argo, A Quiet Place Part II) as American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler; The Good Nurse, Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi; Game of Thrones, The Fall) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough).

For the first time in almost a decade, comedy icon Jack Black returns to his role as Po, the world’s most unlikely kung fu master, with a hilarious, butt-kicking new chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s beloved action-comedy franchise: Kung Fu Panda 4.

After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black), is called upon by destiny to … give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.

That poses a couple of obvious problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position.

Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar® winner Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm.

So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Golden Globe winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox who really gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable. In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

The film features the voice talent of returning stars Academy Award® winner Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master, Shifu; James Hong (Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Po’s adoptive father, Mr. Ping; Academy Award® nominee Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, Li, and Emmy Award nominee Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and arch-nemesis. Oscar® winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) joins the ensemble as a new character, Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves.

Kung Fu Panda 4 is directed by Mike Mitchell (DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls, Shrek Forever After) and produced by Rebecca Huntley (DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys). The film’s co-director is Stephanie Ma Stine (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power). In 2008, the Academy Award®-nominated 2008 inaugural chapter, Kung Fu Panda, became DreamWorks Animation’s highest-grossing original animated film and launched a franchise that has earned more than $1.8 billion at the global box-office.

Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).

“The Holdovers” stands out as a beautifully bittersweet film, showcasing director Alexander Payne’s triumphant return to form. Pictures.

Released on July 21st, the film from Greta Gerwig—who has also made it into the record books as the first woman to cross the billion-dollar mark as a solo director—delivers an original cinematic rendering of the timeless Mattel IP that continues to draw record crowds and captivate audiences of every age across all quadrants.  With a visionary director, a stellar cast led by Margot Robbie, who also produced, and Ryan Gosling, and the world’s most iconic doll at its heart, the widely acclaimed film has cut a swath through scores of Studio and industrywide records, clocking in new daily, weekly and weekend domestic box office highs at unprecedented speeds.

“It takes a truly extraordinary experience to power a winning streak this unstoppable, and Greta, Margot, and the entire ‘Barbie’ cast and crew have clearly delivered exactly that.  ‘Barbie’ is, without a doubt, the must-see theatrical event that people have been waiting for,” said Goldstein.  “This wholly original film—one that’s not part of any franchise—broke nearly 20 box office records on its debut weekend alone, and with the low percentage drops we’re seeing from week to week, that momentum is showing no signs of slowing down.  I Ken say that this is absolutely the summer of pink, and we couldn’t be more thrilled or proud to be part of it.”

Added Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, Co-Chairs & CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, “We are so thrilled the ‘Barbie’ movie continues to be seen and discovered by moviegoers around the country. Cat and Hannah, two British women in their twenties, take on the gruelling 3000km drive along Central Asia’s Pamir Highway — the second highest international road on Earth. It runs from southern Uzbek deserts, through Tajikistan’s Pamir mountain range, climbing over 4600m, into Kyrgyzstan and all the way to its vibrant capital, Bishkek.

Their route brings them to the doorsteps of women from all walks of life, revealing a women’s movement that’s had as many ups and downs as the drive itself. A 78 year-old gynaecologist recalls the turbulent transition from Soviet rule to independence, and testimonies of domestic abuse, ‘bride kidnapping’ and religious extremism expose the region’s complex attitude to women’s rights.

But despite the evident patriarchal oppression in these countries, it’s certainly not the whole picture. Stories of female empowerment against all odds emerge, from a group training Tajikistan’s first-ever female trekking guides to a feminist collective running workshops on sexual pleasure.

With women behind the camera and behind the wheel, this documentary marks a radical departure from the typical road-trip film. Cat and Hannah gain unprecedented access to over 50 women. Their testimonies shed light on a women’s movement largely ignored by Western media.

This is a story of female emancipation and solidarity across different cultures that have a lot more in common than they might have thought.

For this life-changing payday, Jenn has to infiltrate a FTSE 100 company office building with a fake identity, override their state-of-the-art security system, hack in and retrieve the data, and then leave without a trace. What could possibly go wrong?

Like with any exciting heist flick, the mission doesn’t exactly go to plan. Jenn overcomes the initial treacherous and nail-biting setbacks and finds her Ocean’s Eleven style groove on the job. But just when she thinks she’s cracked it, a bewitching working-class grifter called George appears and swipes the prize from her. After being wrong-footed, she outsmarts George, but when she accidentally shoots him in the shoulder, both are forced to rethink their tactics.

As they discover they have more in common than they first thought, Jenn will unearth new levels of fearlessness and tenacity as a game of romantically charged cat and mouse ensues, with the lucrative data and their lives on the line…

IN THEATERS JUNE 10, 2022

This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar®-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe.

From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

Jurassic World Dominion, from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, propels the more than $5 billion franchise into daring, uncharted territory, featuring never-seen dinosaurs, breakneck action and astonishing new visual effects.

The film features new cast members DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2). The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.

Jurassic World Dominion is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who steered 2015’s Jurassic World to a record-shattering $1.7 billion global box office. The screenplay is by Emily Carmichael (Battle at Big Rock) & Colin Trevorrow from a story by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) & Trevorrow, based on characters created by Michael Crichton. Jurassic World Dominion is produced by acclaimed franchise producers Frank Marshall p.g.a. and Patrick Crowley p.g.a. and is executive produced by legendary, Oscar®-winning franchise creator Steven Spielberg, Alexandra Derbyshire and Colin Trevorrow.

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment present, in association with Perfect World Pictures, a Colin Trevorrow film.
